Mayor Suggs suggested last meeting that a levy be put on the ballot to run the pool with no additional funds from the village. Discussion. Cost of the special election would be from $300 - $800. Russ Schenck stated the community is not upholding the school issue. The village may need to have a fire and EMS levy in the future. Farmersville is spending approximately $500,000 to upgrade their pool. Greg Thompson stated the pool is a safety hazard. No individual or group has stepped forward to run the pool since the public hearing. In good conscious, he can not say it is a good thing to continue with the pool because of the losses. Russ Schenck stated that he made a motion to close the pool in January 2004. No one has offered to run the pool. He would like to keep the restrooms open, because of the shelterhouse. He doesn't want to place a levy on the ballot to compete with the school levy. Ron Nisius stated he tried to keep the pool open. He put in a lot of time at the pool. He would like to see the building used for something, such as storage. Russ Schenck stated that the Lions Club was interested in putting in cameras to try to keep vandalism at the park down. Motion: Russ Schenck moved to have the pool demolished by Shindeldecker & Son up to a cost of $12,500, keep the building, remove the fence and the blacktop inside the fenced area, and check with Lakegren regarding their interest in purchasing the equipment, seconded by Greg Thompson.
